I tried to go to a bikram yoga class yesterday at 4 pm but I had the address down wrong and didn't make it. :(
I got the address right, however, and I went this morning. It was great. I miss Moksha most definitely, but Bikram wasn't so bad. It's the same series everytime, 26 poses and two breathing exercises to conclude. Always, always the same, each class 90 min. I prefer Moksha for this reason alone, I like variety. Bikram also moves along faster and is more concentrated on the physical, and barely at all on the mental. At least that is what I've observed from class one. I will be going all week long so maybe my opinion will change with different instructors.
I've started to look for more places to live as well. I have about 9 prime locations at good prices to call and go and check out. Brad, a super nice guy at the hostel, gave me a better website to look at and recommended a bunch of good areas, a lot right near the beach. So that's great.
I made an appointment to go see a place tonight but I think I will cancel because it is quite far out and I would prefer to be closer to the central area where everything is happening. However, the people living at that place seem kind of awesome and so I am 50/50 right now. It's Sunday and I'm feeling a little bit lazy, truth be told. I don't feel like going out over an hour away, it's kinda cold and I'm all comfy in my sweatpants inside... We'll see. Some people from the hostel might be going to a movie as well and I would much prefer to do that. :s
I am going to extend my stay at the hostel for another week while I go and check out all the places. Some are beautiful. I will put up links to the top contenders once I know it. One is right on the bay with the view and all and the other has a beautiful garden in the front and a big backyard in the back.
Oh some hostel buddies are going to come to yoga with me this week! woo hoo :D I am really glad that I practice yoga, I love it. Maybe I will get to check out other studios around as well. I think bikram is good but I want a more spiritual class as well, definitely.
A quick note about my time last night. I learned a drinking game called Sociables and it was pretty fun. I played with a girl from Germany, Hanna, a girl from Holland, Mandy, Darren (canadian buddy), a guy from Germany, Florian and some other people were in an out. It's with cards and basially each card represent something different you have to do. Be it rhyming a word with others while going around the circle until someone gets stuck then that person has to drink, or thumbs where one person is the thumb master and sticks out her/his thumb on the leg while everyone else has to notice and copy, the last person to notice has to drink. Those are two rules but there is a rule for every card in the deck, including number 8 where you get to make up your own rule for the game. IT's pretty fun. Oh something awesome about Australia is that it costs about $11 for 4 litres of wine. Can you believe that? Good thing I like wine nowadays (white and now even red) Woo Hoo!! After the drinking game last nite most people went out, but I just chilled here, listened to music and then went to bed. I was tired. I really like it here and I'm happy.
Tomorrow I am working in a suburb called Sandringham, which is right on the Bay. Woo Hoo. I am teaching Prep (which is their equivalent of Kindergarden) and I think I will be with another teacher. They have team teaching here, so two teachers to a class of 20-30. I think this is brillant and I wish we did this at home. It allows for more one on one time with students and teachers can take turns teaching the lessons, while the other teacher takes care of management or works one on one. I think it's really great. Not cost effective, but education is about much more than saving money. It should be about what is best for the students and their learning. :)
So far I love this country! AND i have barely seen any of it! heheh sooon I will begin sight seeing and add pictures! xoxox
I'm so happy you're enjoying yourself and that you're not too homesick. I enjoy reading your blog. Have a great week and stay safe! xoxo
